How I Work

My Holistic Counselling sessions

Involves a range of experiential healing techniques to reduce the power and significance of damaging emotive, cognitive, and behavioural processes. It aims to help individuals change
their relationship with negative thoughts and feelings that are taking over their lives and, in some cases, are greatly impacting their health and well-being.

How many counselling sessions will I need?

As you’ll discover, there is not always an exact answer, because it depends on different factors. I can tell you that one or two sessions are unlikely to be enough. It takes time to learn the knowledge and skills to feel better. Therapy is useful when you stay in it for long enough that you learn how to cope and address the issues that you came along to counselling from the start.
Progress also depends on how much you’ve suffered in your past. When you have been through more traumas and relationship breakdowns, then it may take more time to work through their harmful effects. A client can be ‘committed’ to therapy and come to every session, but without applying what was learned in sessions to life outside of sessions, there will often be limited to no change.

The number of counselling sessions you’ll need depends on a range of factors, including:

  •  Your number of goals
  • How much you’ve suffered in the past
  • Whether you live in a safe and stable environment
  • Getting clear about the life you want to build

I always start with an initial consultation, and you’ll have therapy appointments once a week or a fortnight. My clients usually benefit from 6 to 20 sessions. As time goes by, I space out the sessions to monthly or six weekly before agreeing on an ending. You’ll know when you’ve made progress when you can track changes in your habits. Life gets better when you build new healthier routines and ways of communicating.

The road to recovery or progress is rarely a straight line. Your moods can be up and down, and the better you get at letting go of control, the happier you’ll be.

Practice, persistence and patience are essential friends on the road to change. When we feel alright, we naturally take good care of ourselves. However, when life gets tough, we start to disconnect and get idle, which usually makes us feel worse.

Can I speak to the counsellor before my appointment?

I will be in sessions with clients during the day and simply can’t make time to talk to every potential client. Your consultation appointment is the time to ask any questions you might have, find out about how I will work with you, and discover if you feel a connection.

Remember that while the majority of consultations proceed to a full course of treatment, you are under no obligation to continue.

What hours is the therapist available?

Sessions are usually available on an hourly basis from 8:00am until 8:00pm on weekdays(finishing at 8:55pm). NOTE: the healing temple opening hours are 10:00am to 5:00pm. If you wish to have your sessions before or after hours, please contact me to arrange your appointment.

Sessions are also offered on Saturdays and Sundays from 9:00am until 4:00pm (finishing at 5:30pm). NOTE: Sundays by request only. Please get in touch to arrange the time that works best for you.

Demand is high for sessions outside of normal working hours. If these are the times that suit you best but there is no slot available, it’s advised you take another slot for the short-term. I may be able to move you into a more convenient time when something becomes available.

I need to change my time slot for next week, is this possible?

Once you have agreed to a mutually convenient slot within the first one or two sessions with your therapist, you will be allocated to the same day and time on an ongoing basis. In the case of an occasional emergency where you need another slot, it is in some instances possible to change if there is a session available, but it is not a guarantee.

How can I pay for a therapy session?

Holistic counselling sessions with me are 90 minutes, £55 including psychotherapy techniques EFT, quantum healing, self-healing visualization, progressive relaxation technique, coaching, NLP, imagery, mindfulness, Integrative and Reiki, depending on the client’s needs. Payment is required at the time of making an appointment. Please use the “booking appointments” page on the website
www.thehealingtemple.co.uk. You will be asked to provide a credit or debit card and this same card will be charged 48 hours in advance of any further sessions. If you come to the studio, you can pay by card or cash.
